Still in the Hospital

So to the updated news, we are still here. Since my son was admitted I could never leave him alone here in the hospital by himself. I have been sleeping here every night. I am glad we are at the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital cause it caters to families when the children are admitted. They have a pull out couch that is pretty comfortable and an attendant brings by free breakfast to parents in the morning and much more. In the last post I mentioned that my son had the appendix taken out, but there was a lot of bacteria already in his system. He was doing better that weekend after but soon made a turn getting sick again. The bacteria was forming an abscess and a couple days later they put a drain in his stomach to get it out. That was on Thursday the 12th. Here it is Sunday the 15th and they will remove it hopefully tomorrow. I thought they would do it today, but the orders were never put in.
The Dr. here and his assistant surgeon are really nice and have been doing a great job with AJ. They said after the drain is out, he can go home when he is eating and walking around like he normally would before the first surgery. I think that sucks and I'm so ready to go home but I agree, I wouldn't want to take him home and something start bothering him again then have to come back. Even though he might still have pains, it needs to be manageable by pills only and not bad enough to need morphine any more. Me personally, I didn't want him to have morphine anyway, just cause it is a harsh drug and I don't want him to be a drug addict by the time we are out of here, lol. But I know it has been needed. My poor boy looked so sad and in so much pain. It has been the hardest thing I have had to go through with him and I'll be so glad when he is home and better. I can't imagine those parents that have sick kids that can't ever go home. I have felt so many times that there is nothing I could do to help, and there was no way for 'mommy to help the pain'. At least I can be here for him and help get him through this by just being mom to help do the simple things. I'm glad my work hasn't let me go because of this and my school is letting me make up some of the work to hopefully pass.
If I am unable to make it to my last class, I wish everyone well in their classes and maybe I'll see ya around. It's been fun!

Since I was absent...

The weekend of May 31st was fun and then later turned into a horrible cpl weeks. We celebrated my son's 16th B-Day just by hanging out and watching a couple movies. He wasn't feeling well the next day and I just assumed that he had eaten bad shrimp on Sun night. I went to work and school, but that changed when I got home on tues night after school. His stomach was bloated and he was complaining of lots of pain. I asked how bad and said we should go to the hospital and he said it wasn't that bad. the next morning he was still in some pain so I helped him to the car and took him straight to Winter Park Hospital. I explained what was going on and they asked my son, AJ, even more. He had been throwing up with a 102 fever.
They quickly took him into an exam room and the Dr. said it was most likely an appendicitis. Within 1 1/2 hrs they had him in ultrasound and a CT Scan. The Dr. told me he had a small pin hole in his appendix and it was leaking. Now, Winter Park Hospital doesn't have pediatrics so they took him by ambulance with sirens to Florida hospital on Rollins St. From there they took him right into surgery and removed the appendix. This was the first time my son has been sick beside the every once in a while bug or sore throat. He was doing very well taking it all in and just allowing the nurses and Dr's to help him. The surgeon told me that his appendix was half dead tissue. This means it had been slowly leaking for a while (time period still unknown) and there was probably quite a bit of bacteria floating in his body already. They got some out during the procedure, but they said there is more around his organs they couldn't get. The surgery was Wed the 4th. He was doing better that weekend and was able to start eating a lil bit. But it wasn't over..
stay tuned...

Almost done, I skipped golf!

So this past weekend I was wanted to finish my porch and get it done so I may relax and grill!!

And that's ALMOST what I did. If you haven't read my last post, I'm redoing the pavers and paving the other 3/4th of my porch with new ones. I started to actually place my new pavers around the old ones, and I'll tell you, those things are heavier than you think! So I am leveling the ground, laying the pavers and then settling it down in the sand where it fits. Ugh, I'm already tired just remembering how exhausting it was! The good news is I got 54 pavers placed and decided that I wanted to pave the walk way instead of using the oval cut outs. I was already tired, but if you want something done, you need to keep going. I ran to Home Depot and got 14 more pavers and made a new change to my idea. I was going to just leave the border of the porch alone (dirt), until I saw the stones. I made an executive decision and told my self that my porch would look so much better with these grey rocks along the border. I got home and put down the rest of the pavers I got.
And again, I changed my overall idea again.  I decided I will pave the entire porch area instead of putting plants along the back side. Guess what, that is 26 more pavers and about 4 more bags of rocks. I have decided that it is all worth it! the finished front side looks amazing and when I'm done, it will be perfect! I will soon finish this porch... Maybe next weekend.. I wish I could post the picture of the progress, oh well..

Twin Rivers!! Yay!

Now if you have read my earlier posts, you will know that I have already been to this course. I actually do like this course for the most part. It "dog-legs" to the left a lot and has a lot of water. It is great green grass for most of the fairways and the greens. The only issues I had was that it was horribly hot out side that weekend. I'm sure everyone in Orlando was trying to stay out of the heat on Memorial day weekend. Since we didn't have time to go on Sunday, we went on Monday. Memorial Day. I don't have any family here and not really any friends here, I was really bored that weekend and needed to get out of my house.
On a side note, I have a side project going on at my house. I have a little porch in the back of my apartment and we are allowed to fix it up, just as long as it doesn't violate any housing codes. My little area is about 10 1/2' x 18 1/2' spot. It had some old large pavers in some spots, but some were broken and some were missing so it really didn't cover much. In addition to that there were granite oval sink cut outs just randomly placed around, some mulch hidden under tall weeds and dirt.
The past month or so, my son and I have been doing a little bit at a time. This same weekend we had all the pavers pulled up and all the weeds pulled and were going to put down the old pavers in a new spot. This means it was nothing but dirt.. So we started and got those down and also put down some of the new pavers that were to border the old. We didn't finish because we couldn't decide what exactly we were going to do with the space. We probably changed our minds 10 times. We thought the best way to figure this out was to put some down in certain areas and then if we like it, actually place them in. We thought, the next weekend we will decide and finish.

Sprinklers!! really?!?!

A couple weeks ago I went golfing to a new course. I was so excited! I thought because it's over by Wekiva area, it'll be lush green fairways and beautiful greens! Oh boy, was I wrong! Starting off, they didn't instruct us on which 9-holes to start on, but we figured it out. Then at our 3rd hole we were doing so good that I thought we were going to have a great scoring day. Our first 2 holes we made par, and that usually doesn't happen in the beginning for us! So we get to the green and we are lined up to birdie the hole! Yay!! Then it happened. These massive sprinklers turn on right on us!! What kind of golf course has their sprinkles on in the middle of the day on Sunday when people are playing!!!! So I called the club and asked if we were somehow on the wrong 9 and I told him cause the sprinklers were on. He said not to worry bout it and that they will turn off in a few short mins. What? I couldn't believe what I had just heard.
First of all, you don't water your golf course grass in the middle of the day cause the water will burn the grass in the 90 degree weather! Second of all, there are people playing! Do you know how hard it is to putt a golf ball on a soaked green? You have to whack the crap out of it just to get it a few feet! So there goes our birdie and also we had to wait like 5 mins just for one to turn off and another then another to come on. we were waiting for almost 15-20 mins in the scorching heat just to finish the 3rd hole. We got hit on at least 4 more holes and then even our 18th hole was paused by sprinklers. We will never go there again. And what makes it comical is that the greens were all almost dead and the fairways on over half of the course were dirt and dead grass. I'm starting to wonder where I gotta go to play a decent course with out breaking the bank!
Just incase you're wondering, the golf course was called Rock Springs. and it was, I think, 25-30 per person. I've played on cheaper courses that were better. Oh well, the hunt for the right golf course is still ongoing...
to be continued...

Again, no golf.. It was time for yard work!

So, I didn't go golfing. again... It started with a friend of mine getting me a large 10x16 tent to put on my apartment porch.. I've been wanting a gazebo, but this works out even better cause I can take it down to go with me some where, if needed. It actually is a 10x10 that has flaps that can be propped up to reach the extra 3ft on each side. Anyways, I love to relax outside and take in the fresh air whether I'm cooking or just relaxing. The problem is that my porch area (enclosed by a fence) was dirty, un-kept for many yrs. and needed some help. I've put off for the 6 mths I have lived there till now. I have not liked being out there and haven't invited anyone over, cause it's ugly.
Well, this weekend, my son and I started. There were some pavers and they were laid with sand which was good, but I planned on relocating them further out and putting a border of more pavers and granite stones to enlarge my coverage. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be. First we had to pull up the 40-sum-odd pavers and throw away the ones that were too cracked to reset. Then we had to pull up all the weeds (by hand) and rake out the layers of trash. Oh, there were layers!! In this, we found more stones underneath all the mess that were buried under inches of dirt, trash, and ?some misc. mulch.. I don't know.. It was crazy.. I felt like I was digging through someone's life.. After all that, I realized there were way too many dips in the ground and it was no where near level. I thought, great, more stuff I have to buy just to make it better..
Once the demo was done, it was time to get all the supplies. I had to buy about 50 more pavers, 12 bags of top soil to raise some spots and then 9 bags of paver sand to lay them in. This doesn't include the rake I had to buy or this thing called a pounder that's flat and you use it to pack the soil and sand by pounding it done. Yay! not.. But I thought it'll be ok once it's done and I'll love it.. My son worked 9 hours in the heat on sat and only got the old pavers reset in the new spot. I will def need to finish next weekend before it settles and I'll have to redo it. I wish I had a day off this week to do it, but it'll have to wait. Especially since I'm sooo sore and could barely move on Mother's day and still on Mon. I've got muscles hurting that I didn't even know I had!! If I can fig out how to post a pic, I will put it up once it's done. I can't wait!!

Too tired to Golf

Well, this past weekend I didn't golf. I have had way too much going on and decided I needed a break from most of everything. My son and I cleaned the entire house, which only took a couple hrs., and I did homework. I didn't really have a lot to do but for some reason I just wanted to veg all weekend. Besides the vacuuming and the bleaching of the bathroom and some laundry, I was a total couch potato! And I loved every min of it! Sometime people just need to relax and I sure did. We ordered pizza on Friday and did leftovers on sat. Very uneventful, but def satisfying. I was so lazy that I didn't even drive my car n e where starting Friday night all the way till mon morn on my way to work! I caught up on some of my DVR shows and munched on snacks all weekend. My son did the same but while playing some of his games. I slept way too much, which made it a lil hard to get to sleep sun night, but I'm not complaining!
Normally, I'd got out n play pool on Friday nights at my local, but didn't want to. I feel like I maybe need to find another local bar to go to and relax. It's at the point now where I know everyone there and it's just a cycle of who did what and I need to break that up. Maybe I'll try another one down the way where it'll be a whole new crowd or just not go out n e more. I do like to get out but if it's the same old, same old,.... it just gets old. lol
On a different note, my work has been going good. I have been there for almost 3 mths and I am now allowed to cover other Reps while they r absent. Hint: that means I have learned enough that they trust me to a point to get done what needs to be done. I am liking the new responsibility cause it makes me feel a lil bit more accomplished. That and to them it shows a lil more of what I can do and that I am a fast learner. One of the girls is absent for almost a week to get a boob job, so I have been covering her and also taking care of my 2 builders alongside that. I don't wanna get ahead of myself, but I feel a raise and promotion into being on my own coming soon. Now they just need to show me the billing part that I really haven't learned yet..
till next week...
PS: hope everyone did well on the test!!!!

Feeling better but it's still undecided... UGH

So I don't know if you have read my last blog ranting about health and the government, but I have found out some new information that might be of use to someone.. I figured I'd at least mention it then I will go back to my normal golfing mess.. So everyone knows that there is a penalty if you don't sign up for Obamacare, right? Do you know how much it is? Well I heard it's only $95 dollars or %1 percent of you AGI for the year!!!! Let me see: do I sign up and pay $100-$300/mth or should I just pay the $95.. Class - this is a NO BRAINER!! And even if you made, lets say $150,000/ yr AGI then depending on your health it still might be cheaper to take the 1%! Listen up world, READ what your government is asking you to do, before you blindly start forking over money! And it is also cheaper for companies to pay the penalty -instead- of paying for health insurance for everyone for the year. This is why they extended the sign up date for individuals and extended it even longer for companies.

Now please understand: this doesn't pertain to me, I don't have to sign up so I haven't read the laws and I did not do any research. ALL I saying, is that you need to look and know more because if you are 'required to sign up' then you might want to know your options. And that's all I can protest to, is that you have options - look at yours! I don't know if these numbers are real or even close, but doesn't it make you think and want to find out?

Anyways, I did end up golfing yesterday and I'll say it was a scorching day!!! It didn't matter what time I was outside it was crazy hot!! I played on the Rolling Hills course again just because it was closer and a lil cheaper but I vow to never go again till they redo the tee boxes and the greens! they were cut up with lines of grass that was uneven and circles protruding above the level green making it the worst to put! I think it was the worst I have ever putted because it would be going straight and then start bouncing and make a quick turn! I wish I could post a pic on here and it was so many different colors of dead! I didn't know it could turn those colors!
But - I was still only 7 over par at the end with 2 birdies! I still had fun, just don't go to that course!LOL

Till next time....

No golf this past weekend!!

So, I started this blog in hopes of being general... Well the gloves are coming off! Omg there is so much I want to say and I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and I don't mind others letting me know. I have come up to some medical issues lately, eventhough I am rarely ever sick. I have a strong immune system, but of course that doesn't stop a body from changes. Now this isn't about me!! I would rather just tough it out and move on, but I can't. Please I am not dying or anything (I think, lol)! This is about me just getting a new job and now I have no choice but to accept insurance by my employer. I am on Medicaid.. I don't ever really use it but it will soon be gone because of the new law my employer has and I have no choice. Now all the testing and what ever else is needed will have to be paid out of pocket, which I don't have. To those that don't know a lot about Medicaid, if you get a job, they transition you to have foods stamps lowered and then stopped if u make enough and the Medicaid will continue for anywhere from a cpl mths up to a yr after. But I can't do that!! Ugh! So pissed about this medical ins law!!! It won't help me? Who is it really helping? Does anyone know someone that it is helping? Besides the ins companies!?!? If I don't want or can't pay for it, I get fined? But now, I have to rush tests and a diagnosis before I get switched in a cpl weeks. And then, I have to pay a lot of money to continue any medical care on the new ins. It just doesn't make sense how our govt can take away our right to refuse! Ok I get it, if u want to drive, u have to have ins. What are they trying to say, if I want to use my body to live, I have to insure it too? Crazy.. I don't feel our govt should have done this. N e way.. See y'all next week! My rant is over for now.. Lol

Sunday again was a good day!

So again, I was out golfing this weekend. Playing at Dubbs Dread by College Park. It was very busy for a Sunday, but that was mainly just the restaurant. Pulled in and was early so I could get a little warm up before I play. I walked in ready to go and the guy said they were low on balls to give for the driving range! WHAT?!?! How does a golf course get low on balls, unless they are not going out to get them!! Well now I had over 30 mins to kill watching everyone else practice. Seeing all the millions of range balls out there just waiting to be picked up. I don't know if they just didn't want to go get them cause it was slowing down on the course or what... oh well.
So I go over to the first tee box and wait. Then, the gentleman there said my partner and I had no choice but to play with a single! even though we are playing in a best ball tournament.. I already didn't like this course cause of the mess. I asked why we had to pair up and they said cause it was busy... um but there was no one behind us for a while and later there was a children's league in training. but still.. and again.. oh well.
As I'm trying to make the best of it, the other player that got put with us was good but we def had to play at a slower speed since he was playing regular golf rules. I will say that unless I go on another day, when I'm told it's slower and we don't have to pair up with someone, or I wont go back to this course. I am a firm believer that golf is supposed to be fun, relaxing, and a lil competitive. NOT annoying!! BUT some how we managed to enjoy the day and get a good score.
On another note, the course was ok. I wouldn't describe it as a hard course, but def ALOT of distractions with the many small neighborhood roads throughout. It is mainly straightaway holes, which is good for some, but if the wind catches your ball, your out of bounds. Only a few dog leg and most are short. Very skinny fairways with parallel streams of water. This is a course that you want to play low to the ground and with speed. I hit a couple like that and they seem to continue to bounce half way down the course. Good for me but to others might be hard to do. Not sure where I playing next weekend, but I will keep you posted!! :)

New Golfer and loving it!

About a year ago, I started golfing because I was dating a guy that 'loved to golf'! Well, come to find out, I was getting good at it and he was always better at drinking! So, I got rid of him and continued to golf by myself, have been randomly paired up with other single players, or have gotten one of my friends to play a few times. I really enjoy the game and it's a great way to get out of the house and enjoy a beautiful day. I would say that I have played about 40 times so far, but I know that I'm scoring better than some regulars. I have recently learned how to play what's called a '2-man scramble - best ball'. It is where both players hit their ball and then every turn you pick the best ball you want to play off of and then move the other ball to that spot. This continues till it's sunk. The first time I played it, I won 5th place. I got a cute little plaque. Then, the second time, I won first place! That time I got a 3ft trophy! I was so excited, but now I have missed 2 weeks of playing and need to get back! It's awesome that this way of playing, I actually play against players all over the Orlando area. I would like to get better at it and be able to really compete as a hobby. I have played quite a few courses in Orlando, but have yet to venture out too far. I try to play the medium courses, but have found the harder ones I do better at. Like when I won the first place trophy, I played for the first time at Metro West Golf Course. It just recently went through a million dollar upgrade to the greens and tee boxes. It also is said to be the hardest at the back 9, but I was better at the back 9. It used to be only a private course, but now is open to every one. I will def go back there again!!
